From the State an agreement has been reached during the negotiation of the approval of the General State Budgets (PGE), including in them a measure that can benefit almost half a million pensioners .
The measure consists of the extension of the aid that was launched in the summer, and which involved an extraordinary increase of 15% in pensions , which aims to alleviate the increase in costs that self-employed workers have been suffering.
This increase affects non-contributory pensions, Permanent Disability and Retirement , which are collected by around 440,000 people.
Although this rise was originally scheduled to last until December 31, 2022, it will finally continue in 2023 . This is a great relief for people who have not reached the minimum contribution requirements and who will see their benefits increased above inflation next year.
Amount of non-contributory retirement and Permanent Disability pensions for the self-employed in 2023
The amount of non-contributory pensions that citizens collect is set in the General State Budget each year, which, as we have seen, has increased by 2023.
Non-contributory pensions are very important for the Spanish population since they guarantee that all citizens in a certain situation, retirement or disability, receive a benefit regardless of the time they have contributed.
Requirements
Non-contributory pensions protect people who have reached the minimum retirement age and those who are disabled but who do not meet the contribution requirements to access a contributory pension.
For both situations it is necessary to meet some requirements:
- For retirement . Having reached the minimum age established for retirement, being a resident in Spain and not having sufficient income . The maximum amount to determine whether or not the income requirements are met is set annually.
- For Permanent Disability . Being between 18 and 65 years of age, being a resident in Spanish territory for a minimum of 5 years and having a recognized disability that equals or exceeds 65%.
Amounts
To calculate the amount of the non-contributory pension , the income of the person who receives it and that of his or her household unit are taken into account .
In any case, the amount can never be less than 25% of the full pension , which changes every year and in 2022 amounts to 1,474.35 euros per year.
If the beneficiary of a non-contributory disability pension has a degree of disability that equals or exceeds 75% and needs the help of another person, they will receive a supplement of 50% more for that purpose.
Therefore, the amount of the pension varies depending on the characteristics of the person who collects it and their family unit.
However, and it seems, the amounts that will be established for 2023 will be the following:
- Full pension . It will rise 63 euros per month, being established at 484.61 euros.
- Minimum of 25% of the full pension . It increases 15 euros per month, setting its amount at 121.15 euros per month.
- Full board plus 50%. People with large percentages of disabilities who need help from other people will charge 726.91 euros per month.
If there are several people in the same family unit who receive a non-contributory pension, each of them will receive the following:
- When there are two cohabitants who receive pay, the amount of each one increases by 53 euros per month, settling at 411.92 euros.
- When there are three cohabitants , the pension will increase by 50 euros, being established at 387.69 euros per month.
Increase in contributory pensions in 2023
The measures approved in relation to pensions link the upward variations of these benefits taking into account the CPI calculated from December to November. This year the percentage is very high, something that has affected prices, so pensions will rise by 8.5% in 2023 .
This increase affects both minimum and maximum pensions , with a monthly increase of between 76 euros and 240 euros per month depending on the pension that was initially collected.
In the case of the self-employed , the average pension in 2022 is 838 euros per month, which will rise 71 euros , reaching 909 euros per month. The retirement of the self-employed and the collection of other benefits such as Permanent Disability usually have a lower amount than that of the people included in the General Scheme and this means that, on occasions, they find themselves in difficult situations. For the year 2023, significant increases are expected for both contributory and non-contributory pensions, which will help improve the economic situation of their beneficiaries and will offset the significant rise in prices during 2022.
